UNS S17400 Stainless Steel | 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Bar

Category : Blog

17-4 PH stainless steel can be used for a variety of industries including pump shafts, oil path, mechanical seals, and within the aerospace industry. Its composition is carbon, chromium, columbian + tantalum, copper, manganese, nickel, phosphorous, silicon, and sulfur.

Below you will find typical applications of 17-4 PH stainless steel as well as the metals composition and mechanical properties.

Typical usage is seen in applications requiring high strength and a modest level of corrosion resistance. Strength and toughness desired can be manipulated by temperate range in the heat treatment process.

UNS N08904 Stainless Steel round bar is a 904L – ASTM A182

Category : Blog

Grade 904L stainless steel is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. This high alloy stainless steel is added with copper to improve its resistance to strong reducing acids, such as sulphuric acid. The steel is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. Grade 904L is non-magnetic, and offers excellent formability, toughness and weldability.

Grade 904L contains high amounts of expensive ingredients, such as molybdenum and nickel. Today, most of the applications that employ grade 904L are replaced by low-cost duplex stainless steel 2205.

UNS S30409 Stainless Steel round bar alloy 304H – ASTM A182

Category : Blog

UNS s30409 stainless steel round bar is commonly known as Alloy 304. Alloy 304 is a T-300 series stainless steel austenitic, which has a minimum of 18% chromium & 8% nickel with a maximum of 0.08% carbon. It is the standard “18/8 stainless” that is commonly found in cooking tools like pans.

Alloy 304 (UNS s30409) is the most versatile and widely used alloy in the stainless steel family. It may be used for a wide variety of home and commercial applications and exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, has a high ease of fabrication, outstanding formability, and tremendous strength.

The austenitic stainless steels are also considered to be the most weldable of the high alloy steels. And it can be welded by all fusion and resistance welding processes. Due to its controlled carbon content of 0.04 to 0.10, Alloy 304H provides improved high temperature strength when exposed to temperatures greater than 800ºF.
